Dissecting Antismokers Brains is designed to be comfortable and readable by anyone but it contains a lot of hard facts and statistics as well. It is divided into three main parts. Part 1 is 50 pages long and is a somewhat pop-psychology type analysis of what I see as the major psychological subgroupings of Antismokers: The Innocents (those ordinary nonsmokers who have gotten charged up by the Antismokers enormous media presence), the Neurotics, The Truly Affected, The Bereaved, The Victims and Ex-Smokers, The Controllers, the Idealists, the Moralists, and The Greedy. Part 2 is much larger (roughly 150 pages) and is very carefully referenced. It examines the propaganda tricks and social change tools and methods that the Antismokers are using to achieve their goals and also examines the various harms done to us, both individually and societally, by their methods.
Dissecting Antismokers’ Brains is aimed at several audiences. The book is aimed partly at activists who are fighting for Free-Choice and would like to back up their feelings with a dependable and coherent source of information and facts; partly at the wider population of smokers who are angry at being forced out into the weather but have been misled to believe there are justifications for such exile; and, finally, is aimed at those fence-sitting politicians who would LIKE to support the Free-Choice option but have been overwhelmed by the mountains of misinformation from the seemingly unimpeachable sources that the Antismokers have at their disposal. For any smoker who feels frustrated at trying to argue their case with an Anti in their social circle, Dissecting Antismokers Brains offers the perfect solution: give it to them to read and invite them to argue any of its points AFTER they’ve read it! For any nonsmoker who lives, works, or plays with smokers but who is worried about the possible dangers of secondary smoke this book will serve to alleviate unnecessary concerns. As pointed out in its preface, the book has a definite orientation toward supporting the Free-Choice position and criticizing the excesses of the Antismoking Crusade, but it also has a total commitment to presenting its information truthfully and backing that information up with references: almost 600 of them in its 370 pages. One of the great weaknesses of the Antismoking Crusade is its dependence on a lot of squishy facts that fall apart under closer examination: I’ve tried very hard to avoid falling into such a trap and I believe I have succeeded. In order to make the book available as quickly as possible to those of us engaged in current local battles with the Antis I have arranged for its immediate availability to those who would like to order it and pay by check or through PayPal. For details please click on the "Pricing and Ordering" button. It is also available for instant ordering and fast delivery for single copies through Amazon. Dissecting Antismokers’ Brains is a quality “perfect bound” glossy 6x9 inch paperback published by AEthna Press, very similar in general style, look, and feel to For Your Own Good by Jacob Sullum and The Nazi War On Cancer by Robert Proctor. |
